Athlone Oil Spill – Al and Shannon Rivers
Inland Fisheries Ireland was initially alerted to this incident (oil slick) by Westmeath County Council on Saturday, 10 August. Staff from Inland Fisheries Ireland attended the scene and supported the clean-up operation.
Staff have monitored the site of the incident on a daily basis and, as of this morning (13.08.19), no dead fish have been observed.
Inland Fisheries Ireland continues to liaise with Westmeath County Council, who are leading the investigation.
