Leave No Trace

Leave No Trace provides research, education and outreach so every person who ventures outside can protect and enjoy the outdoors responsibly.

What is it?

Leave No Trace is an Outdoor Ethics Education Programme designed to promote and inspire responsible outdoor recreation through education, research, and partnerships.

Inland Fisheries Ireland and Leave No Trace

Inland Fisheries Ireland is a proud partner of Leave No Trace Ireland. Both organisations are invested in the protection and promotion of a national communal responsibility, maintained by all when using Irelands many watercourses – both freshwater and coastal. Our partnership with Leave No Trace Ireland provides materials and resources for anglers of all ages to help ensure the proper respect for our watercourses. All materials are based on the Leave No Trace seven principles, as part of our drive to promote more responsible angling.

Principles of Leave No Trace

Leave No Traces has seven principles:

  1. Plan ahead and prepare
  2. Travel and camp on durable ground
  3. Dispose of waste properly
  4. Leave what you find
  5. Minimise campfire impact
  6. Respect wildlife
  7. Be considerate of others
