IFI are working in collaboration with Waterways Ireland on a project to mitigate the barrier at Lower Tinnahinch Weir, Graiguenamanagh, Co. Kilkenny, which received planning consent from An Bord Pleanála in 2023. Kilkenny County Council recently granted an extension to the planning timeframe, which permits construction during summer 2026.   

The appointment of an engineering Consultant to undertake Stage 2(ii) Detailed design and Stage 3 Tendering is currently being  progressed. It is envisaged that a works Contractor could commence the barrier mitigation works on-site in summer 2026.
