UCD appoints Inland Fisheries Ireland scientist as an Adjunct Professor

In 2013 University College Dublin and Inland Fisheries Ireland signed a Memorandum of Understanding which both recognises the existing ties between these two institutions and will further promote future research programmes between the two organisations.

In January, 2014, the Governing Body of UCD appointed Dr. Martin O’Grady to the post of Adjunct Professor in their School of Biology and Environmental Science. Dr. O’Grady, an employee of Inland Fisheries Ireland for over 35 years, is an acknowledged European expert in the fisheries field with particular reference to freshwater fish populations and the implementation of salmonid riverine enhancement programmes.

His appointment to this post is both a great personal achievement and a reflection of the very high standard of research programmes undertaken in Inland Fisheries Ireland.

Dr. O’Grady’s professorial appointment will undoubtedly be of considerable assistance in forging further links between the two organisations.  His expertise will make a significant input to research and teaching activity in the School of Biology and Environmental Science, UCD.
