The project had a second public consultation completed on eight options in January 2025. Following on from this several environmental surveys were completed in the Summer relating to the Special Area of Conservation of the Mulkear. Unforeseen additional geotechnical investigations are now required to assess and develop the options. On top of this information a refined hydraulic model is being developed along with a geomorphology study and detailed options report. A multi criteria assessment in the options report will be used to identify the preferred option for submission of a planning application in 2026.
