Fixed Charge Penalty Notices (sometimes called On the Spot Fines) are issued by Inland Fisheries Ireland officers for a variety of fisheries offences. Sample offences include failure to fish with a salmon licence where required, using illegal methods, fishing out of season, killing under sized fish etc

Appeals Process
A person who believes they were either wrongly issued with a FCPN, or where they are of the opinion that exceptional extenuating circumstances existed which merit consideration for the cancellation of the FCPN, the following procedure must be followed for consideration of this request.
The person must forward a letter or email to the River Basin Director in whose area the fine was issued. They must state the full details of the incident and the reason for seeking the cancellation of the fine. They must submit their appeal within 7 days of being issued with the fine.
