The project to mitigate the barrier at Brett’s Weir is currently at Phase 1 Feasibility Study and Option Selection.  An engineering consultant has been appointed to progress a suitable mitigation at this large weir barrier on the River Nore, south of Kilkenny City. 

Upon completion of the Feasibility report it is envisaged that the project will proceed to Stage 2 Outline Design and Planning Consent later in 2026, with construction potentially taking place in summer 2027.
