Illegal Bass angling
The anglers produced over 20 Bass, far more than the two Bass allowed per angler per day. The Bass, together with the rod and reels used in the commission of the offence, were seized by the officers. At the District Court, both men were found guilty of the offence of taking more than the permitted number of Bass and both were given a heavy fine while the Bass, rods and reels were forfeited to Inland Fisheries Ireland.

Chlorine fish kill as a result of chlorine spillage
Inland Fisheries Ireland responded to reports of a fish kill on a small river in the Southeast during 2019. Over 300 Brown Trout and nearly 40 eels had been killed. The people responsible were fined €2,000, had to pay costs of €1200 and were ordered to donate €200 to the local angling club to aid restoration efforts.
Brown Trout killed in the Tolka river
In September 2018, Inland Fisheries Ireland investigated a fish kill on the River Tolka in Co. Dublin reported by local anglers in the Mulhuddart area. Dead Brown Trout, Lamprey, Stoneloach and Minnow were noted in the Tolka Valley Park south of the village of Mulhuddart. The court a fine of €1,000.00. The defendant had agreed to make a contribution of €7,000.00 towards the costs incurred by Inland Fisheries Ireland.
Adapting patrols
Three men pleaded guilty and were convicted at the District Court for their activities after giving false information to fishery officers in Killary Harbour in Ballinakill to Rossaveal, in the Connemara Fishery Districts.

The four men were successfully prosecuted after being responsible for illegal fishing on the river Moy.
