Rehabilitation of salmonid production areas in the Nenagh River
|Project Spend to date
Ormonde Anglers Association were allocated funds towards spawning enhancement and in-stream structures. A number of areas have been impacted by drainage and were in need of rehabilitation works to enhance the potential for salmonid production. 1km of the Ollitirim river was rehabilitated by scouring a number of holding pools and upgrading these pools to ensure the normal flow of water to maintain the pools.
A number of vortex weirs were inserted at strategic locations. Random boulders were inserted into pools to provide additional protection for juvenile salmon. Gravel was inserted in riffle areas, above pools to enhance spawning areas and help to increase the salmon production potential for this river section.
