Inland Fisheries Ireland is the state agency with responsibility for the protection, conservation, management, development and promotion of Ireland’s inland fisheries and sea angling resource.

The National Strategy for Angling Development (NSAD) has been developed by Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) and is the first comprehensive national framework for the development of Irelands angling resource. The strategy was launched in 2015 and has seen significant funding being made available for investment in the sector.  


The key aim of the Officer will be to assist in providing ‘accessible and sustainable world class inland fisheries and sea angling for all.’

As Education and Outreach Officer you will be responsible for generating a programme of community awareness and education aimed not only at attracting young anglers but also at existing anglers and the wider community. You will also be responsible for networking with multiple relevant stakeholders while also working closely with the other project partners to successfully deliver Inland Fisheries Ireland’s various conservation messages and promote its angling, conservation and community involvement efforts.

This is a front-line leadership role and to succeed in this role you will have previously demonstrated excellence in developing and delivering a range of innovative and informative programmes to a range of stakeholders – from community groups and schools to public authorities. You will also be responsible for the leadership of a geographically dispersed team of Education Assistants / Fisheries Outreach Officers.
